Here we go again! Just one more day left until we have translated fifty French flowers, fruits, and herbs. Today's list will focus on ten different flowers.

Asking AI to create illustrations has been fun! It took several attempts before finding the photo seen above. I gave AI the list of today's flowers, and while some of the photos were fine, I kept sensing there was something better. I almost settled on another version, but I decided to give it one more try. Then, this photo appeared. I knew it was the one. I guess it's kind of like love. There are some suitable and perfectly adequate versions out there, but you really should hold out until the right one comes along. You will just know, and hopefully not when it's too late. Or is it ever truly too late? Let me give you today's flower list before pondering one of life's greatest mysteries.

Buttercup

La renoncule

Dandelion

Le pissenlit

Honeysuckle

Le chèvrefeuille

Peony

La pivoine

Hyacinth

La jacinthe

Daffodil

La jonquille

Hydrangea

L'hortensia

Tulip

La tulipe

Lilac

Le lilas

Azalea

L'azalée

All of the flowers on this list are quite lovely, and I look forward to seeing each one again next year. However, if pressed to pick a favorite, I would have to choose honeysuckle, known in French as le chèvrefeuille. Despite being the least "showy" of all these flowers, honeysuckle holds a special place in my heart, as described in A Summer Evening in Virginia. That link will send you to the post about how I was practically swooning on July 1st this past summer. Interestingly, it does not seem that AI included honeysuckle in the image above, even though I requested it. That's okay, because you can see an image in that post about the scent of honeysuckle floating through the air on that serene summer night in Virginia. It doesn't matter if I can't see it, because it remains tucked away in my heart forever.
